Publisher A. H. Payne of Leipzig and Dresden put out a number of books with high-quality steel engravings of famous works. Here are some of the 134 plates contained in his 1850 two-volume set "Payne's Royal Dresden Gallery: being a selection of subjects engraved after pictures by the Great Masters, Berchem, Bol, Canaletto...with accompanying notices consisting of Tales, Biographies etc."
